What is a rash identifier?

A rash identifier analyzes a photo of your rash with a machine-learning model trained on dermatology images, then estimates which skin conditions your rash most resembles — such as eczema, contact dermatitis, hives, or a fungal or viral rash — and how urgent it looks, in seconds, on any device, in 23 languages. Use it as a first look to decide whether — and how urgently — to have a rash checked by a doctor. It complements professional care; it doesn’t replace the exam, tests, or judgement only a clinician can provide.

How It’s Validated

The AI technology used in SkinAI has been independently tested by dermatologists and oncologists. Results are published in a peer-reviewed clinical study with sensitivity of 97.9% and specificity of 97.1% across all skin pathology classes (CI 95%).

What This AI Does Not Do

SkinAI does not diagnose. It uses a clinically validated screening algorithm that identifies visual similarities with known skin conditions. The final decision is always made by a qualified healthcare professional. The AI model is fixed and clinically validated before each release.

Why use a rash identifier?

A first read on an unexplained rash — preliminary information to help you understand what it might be and when to seek professional medical care.

Instant screening

An assessment in about 30 seconds — no appointment, no waiting room.

Available anywhere

Works in your browser on phone or desktop, 24/7, in 23 languages.

Built for every skin tone

Trained across the Fitzpatrick spectrum (I–VI) — rashes can look very different on darker skin.

Private by design

GDPR-compliant and EU-trained; your photos are processed securely for your analysis, not sold.

Peer-reviewed model

Validated in a peer-reviewed clinical study, published in the Indian Journal of Dermatology (2022).

Track how it changes

Re-photograph the rash as it evolves — how fast it spreads or fades is one of the most useful signals for a doctor.

How our AI reads a rash photo

The model examines the visual features a clinician also looks at in a rash — color and redness, the shape and border of each spot, texture and scale, and how the rash is distributed across the skin — and compares them against the conditions it has learned. It reasons only from what is visible in the image: it cannot feel the skin, take a history of your symptoms, or know what you were exposed to, which is why its output is a screening estimate rather than a diagnosis. Clearer, well-lit photos that show the whole affected area give the model more to work with.

How the AI works under the hood

In plain terms: it’s a neural network trained on a large library of labeled clinical dermatology images.

When you upload a photo, the model converts the image into a set of visual features — color and redness, border sharpness, texture and scale, and how the rash is distributed — and compares that pattern against every condition it has learned. It returns the closest matches with a calibrated confidence and an overall risk signal, ranked from most to least likely.

It works only from the pixels in front of it: it doesn’t read your medical history, symptoms, or what you were exposed to, and it can’t assess the skin by touch or run a lab test. The model is fixed and validated before each release, so it behaves consistently — but it can only recognise patterns it was trained on, which is why a clinician’s judgement remains the final word.

What “accuracy” means — and its limits

A screening tool and a diagnosis are not the same thing. Even a strong model produces some false positives and false negatives — so a reassuring result is never a reason to ignore a rash that worries you. Real-world accuracy drops with blurry or poorly lit photos, varies across skin tones, and is hardest for early or rapidly changing rashes seen in a single image.

Treat every result as a prompt, not a verdict. For any rash with a fever, that spreads fast, blisters, or doesn’t fade when pressed, seek medical care right away regardless of what the screening says. No AI tool can guarantee safety or rule out a serious condition.

What rashes it can identify

Screens your photo for the most common causes of a rash. For every one, the AI only suggests possible visual matches — the cause can be confirmed only by a doctor.

Refund Policy

Effective Date: March 21, 2026

This Refund Policy applies only to purchases made directly through our website at skinailab.com and any related web checkout pages ("Website Purchases").

This Refund Policy does not apply to purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which are governed by the applicable platform rules.

1. General Principles

We provide digital services and digital content through our website.

Because access to digital services may be provided immediately after purchase, refund eligibility depends on whether the purchased service has already been used, accessed, or delivered.

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits any mandatory consumer rights you may have under applicable law.

2. Currency

All prices, charges, refunds, and calculations under this Refund Policy are processed in the currency of the original transaction, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

3. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please contact us at mail@skinai.pro and include:

  • the email address used for the purchase;
  • your full name;
  • the date of purchase;
  • the amount charged;
  • the payment confirmation or receipt, if available; and
  • a short description of the reason for the request.

We may request additional information reasonably necessary to verify your purchase and assess your request.

4. Single Scan Refunds

Single Scan is a one-time purchase that provides access to 1 scan.

You may be eligible for a full refund if:

  • you request the refund within 24 hours of purchase; and
  • the scan has not been used; and
  • no paid report, downloadable file, or equivalent paid digital output has been generated or made available to you.

Single Scan purchases are generally non-refundable once:

  • the scan has been used;
  • a report has been generated;
  • a PDF report has been generated or made available for download; or
  • the purchased digital service has otherwise been delivered,

except where a refund is required by applicable law.

5. Starter Subscription Refunds

Starter Subscription is an auto-renewing subscription billed every 7 days and includes up to 5 scans during each billing period.

a. Full Refund for an Unused Billing Period

You may be eligible for a full refund for the relevant billing period if:

  • you request the refund within 24 hours of the relevant charge; and
  • no scans from that billing period have been used; and
  • no paid report, downloadable file, or equivalent paid digital output from that billing period has been generated or made available to you.

b. Partial Refund for Limited Use

If you request a refund within 24 hours of the relevant charge and only part of the included scans from that billing period has been used, we may issue a partial refund.

The refundable amount for the relevant billing period will generally be calculated as follows:

refund = price paid − (price paid ÷ included scans × used scans)

Any resulting amount will be rounded to the nearest cent in the currency of the original transaction. No refund will be issued if this calculation results in zero or a negative amount.

c. No Refund

Refunds are generally not available for the relevant billing period once:

  • all included scans from that billing period have been used;
  • the digital service for that billing period has been fully consumed;
  • reports or downloadable files have been generated or made available for all included scans from that billing period; or
  • more than 24 hours have passed since the relevant charge,

except where a refund is required by applicable law.

6. Renewal Charges

Each automatic renewal creates a new billing period. Refund requests for renewal charges will be assessed under the same rules described above for the relevant renewed billing period.

Canceling a subscription stops future renewals only and does not automatically entitle you to a refund for the current or past billing periods.

7. Cancellation vs. Refund

Cancellation and refund are different actions.

  • Cancellation stops future renewal charges.
  • A refund concerns money that has already been charged.

If you do not want to be charged for the next billing period, you must cancel before the next renewal date.

8. Immediate Performance of Digital Services

By completing a Website Purchase, you expressly request and consent to the immediate supply of digital content and/or the immediate performance of digital services.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you acknowledge that once the digital service has begun or digital content has been made available, your right to withdraw may be lost or limited.

Where required by applicable law, we will obtain this consent and acknowledgement during checkout before immediate access is provided.

9. Service Failures and Billing Errors

If you were charged for a scan or subscription period but the paid service was not successfully delivered due to a technical error on our side, a duplicate charge, or a billing malfunction, you may be eligible for a full or partial refund, re-credit, or service reissuance, as appropriate.

10. Non-Refundable Situations

To the extent permitted by law, we may deny a refund where we reasonably determine that the request involves unauthorized payment use, chargeback abuse, repeated refund requests for substantially consumed services, or other objectively verifiable misuse of the service or payment system.

11. Statutory Rights

If you are entitled to a refund, withdrawal right, or cancellation right under mandatory law in your country, state, or region of residence, those rights remain unaffected.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days unless an exception applies.

Where permitted by applicable law, by purchasing digital content or digital services through our website and requesting immediate access, you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal may be lost or limited once performance begins.

12. Refund Review and Processing

We aim to review refund requests within 5 business days after receiving all information reasonably necessary to assess the request.

If your refund is approved, the refund will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase, unless otherwise required by law.

13. Language

This Refund Policy is written in English. Any translations are provided for convenience only. In the event of any inconsistency or conflict between the English version and any translation, the English version will prevail, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

14. Contact

If you have questions about this Refund Policy or want to request a refund, please contact us at:

AI rash identifier vs a doctor

AI rash identifier A doctor
Best for The fast first look — “what could this rash be, and is it urgent?” The diagnosis — “what exactly is this rash, and how do we treat it?”
Speed & access ~30 seconds, 24/7, any device By appointment & travel; office hours
What it does Screening & triage from a photo Diagnosis, tests, prescription
Method A photo on your phone, in 23 languages In-person exam, swabs or patch tests
Output An informational estimate, not a diagnosis Definitive medical diagnosis

Use a rash identifier to decide how urgently to act — then see a doctor for any rash that is severe, spreading, feverish, or persistent.

What it can and can’t do

It can

  • Suggest the most likely causes of a rash from a photo
  • Give a severity / urgency signal
  • Track how a rash spreads or fades over time
  • Work 24/7 in 23 languages
  • Help you prepare for a doctor’s visit

It can’t

  • Diagnose the cause or prescribe treatment
  • Replace a swab, patch test, or a doctor’s exam
  • Know your symptoms or what you were exposed to
  • Guarantee accuracy

If in doubt, always see a doctor.

How to take a good rash photo

A clear photo gets a better read

Four quick things before you shoot.

Good light

Natural daylight, no harsh shadows.

Close and sharp

Get in close and keep the rash in focus.

No filters

Filters distort color and texture — the key clues in a rash.

Show the spread

Include the whole affected area plus a little healthy skin, and take a close-up and a wider shot.

When to see a doctor in person

See a doctor promptly — don’t wait for an AI result — if a rash is:

  • With a fever, or spreading quickly across the body
  • Blistering or peeling, or involving the eyes, mouth, or genitals
  • Made of purple or red spots that don’t fade when pressed with a glass
  • Painful, or with swelling of the face or lips or any trouble breathing

In an emergency — trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or a rash that doesn’t fade when pressed — contact emergency services right away.

Who is the rash identifier for?

Anyone with an unexplained rash and a phone — it’s especially useful if you’re:

A parent

Checking a child’s sudden rash, an insect bite, or a reaction, and deciding whether it needs a doctor today.

Reacting to something new

You started a new medication, food, cosmetic, or detergent and want a first read on the rash it may have triggered.

Managing a chronic condition

Living with eczema or psoriasis and tracking flares over time to see what helps.

Prone to allergies

You get hives or contact reactions and want a first read on whether a rash looks allergic or infectious.

A traveller or hiker

Back from a trip or a day outdoors with an unfamiliar rash, bite, or plant reaction.

Far from a doctor

In a rural area or facing long waits, and you want guidance on how urgently to act.

Rash identifier FAQ

Can AI identify a rash from a photo?

It gives a screening estimate of the most likely causes — not a diagnosis. It’s useful for deciding whether, and how soon, to see a doctor, but accuracy varies and it can miss or misjudge a rash; always confirm with a clinician.

What kinds of rashes can it identify?

Common causes of a rash — eczema, contact and allergic dermatitis, hives (urticaria), psoriasis, fungal rashes like ringworm, and viral rashes — among 62+ skin conditions.

Can it tell if a rash is serious?

It gives a severity signal, but it can’t rule out a serious condition. A rash with a fever, that spreads fast, blisters, or doesn’t fade when pressed needs urgent medical care regardless of the result.

Can it tell an allergic rash from an infection?

It can suggest visual matches that point toward one or the other, but the two often overlap and look alike in a photo — only a clinician can confirm the cause.

Can it diagnose the cause of my rash?

No. It’s a screening tool that suggests likely visual matches. Diagnosing the cause — and prescribing treatment — needs a qualified doctor.

Is a rash with a fever an emergency?

A rash with a fever — especially one that doesn’t fade when pressed with a glass — can signal a serious infection. Seek medical care right away rather than waiting for an AI result.

How fast is the result?

About 30 seconds.

How much does it cost?

SkinAI Lab is a paid AI analysis; pricing is shown before you scan.

Can I check my child’s rash?

You can screen a child’s rash for guidance, but children’s rashes can change fast — see a doctor promptly for anything feverish, spreading, blistering, or that doesn’t fade when pressed.

Does it work on darker skin?

It’s trained across skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–VI). Redness and rashes can look very different on darker skin, so as with any tool, confirm concerning findings with a doctor.

What kind of photo works best?

A close, sharp, well-lit photo in natural light, no filters, showing the whole affected area plus a little healthy skin. Blurry or dark photos lower accuracy.

Is my photo private?

Your photos are processed securely to produce your analysis, in line with GDPR, and our models are trained in the EU. We don’t sell your photos. See our Privacy Policy for how your data is processed.

Can it track a rash over time?

Yes — re-photograph the same area as it changes. How quickly a rash spreads or fades is one of the most useful things you can show a doctor.

How is this different from googling my symptoms?

Instead of sifting through articles, the AI compares your actual photo against clinical images and returns the most likely matches with a severity signal — a focused starting point, still not a diagnosis.

Is it a replacement for a doctor?

No — it’s a first look that helps you act sooner. Diagnosis and treatment need a qualified clinician.

What languages does it support?

23, including English, Spanish, German, French, Russian, Arabic, and more.

Is it a medical device?

No. It’s an informational screening tool, not a certified medical device or a diagnostic service. Always confirm concerns with a qualified doctor.

Can I also check a mole or a general skin concern?

Yes — for a specific mole, or a broader look at any skin concern, use our AI Dermatologist or Skin Check.

In short

The short version

SkinAI Lab’s rash identifier analyzes a photo of your rash and returns the most likely causes with a severity signal in about 30 seconds, in 23 languages. It’s a screening and guidance tool — not a diagnosis — and it doesn’t replace a doctor. Use it to decide how urgently to get a rash checked, then see a doctor for any rash that is severe, spreading, feverish, or persistent.

This AI tool provides a preliminary skin screening from a photo. It is not a medical diagnosis or a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional. For any concerning or persistent skin change, consult a dermatologist. In an emergency, contact your doctor or emergency services. Sources: American Academy of Dermatology · DermNet · NHS.
